Metafields are not going anywhere. I cannot believe you do not fully support them. I can't add metafields to tables, I had to code my own. I can't use Rich Text in my templates to put short, formatted paragraphs or bulleted lists. This is very disappointing. You need to document in your support area about which metafields you DO support.
